You think you can ride your bike on Rainbow bridge and take a shortcut to Odaiba, then think again as the officer will ask you to “Orite kudasai” looks like “降りる”-”降ります” and then you will be offered another wheel for your wheels that aren’t comfortable to chain your bike with but it’s the only way to drive your bike next to you along the rainbow bridge and enjoy the scenery. The Rainbow Bridge is not a great workout for the dedicated walker. However, it is an interesting and accessible wander for both locals and tourists alike. The bridge itself carries two decks, with the upper one being used for the Expressway which I once tried to bike up and ended up coming down in the midway as cars were so aggressive. In addition, It really is loud. The second thing that gets your attention is the wind. It is brisk and constant.
Shirts are blown away, so pay attention. The path is paved and wide enough for two walkers abreast. The views are spectacular except for the caged effect of the metal safety netting over the handrails, but there are two viewing platforms along the way with fewer bars so that photos can be taken.
Rainbow bridge night walk! The serenity within!
you can swing back and forth to take different shots. The best time of the day to walk on the bridge is the twilight time on a clear day when visibility is excellent. However, even on a cloudy day, if long distance visibility is limited, you still get great views of the action of the cruise and cargo ships passing underneath. Interestingly, the walkway is also getting noticed now by the photography community for being a spot from where Tokyo Tower and Skytree nearly appear to be of the same height. On the way back, you can see quite a lot of cyclists. It is not permitted to ride your bicycle across the bridge as mentioned before, but tugging it along is okay just don’t forget the caged chain. This unique wooden board with small wheels can be noisy while attached to the back tire at the entrance of the walkway. The board can then be removed and returned on the other side.
Are you going to take a walk and meditate!
Before I let you watch this album carousel down there I want to emphasize that even with the noise, heat, and wind, I found the walk on Rainbow Bridge enjoyable and interesting. Adding the extra stroll at Odaiba Marine Park pushed this short walk up to around seven kilometers yet next time I usually pick the long cycle around Ginza as more convenient to this incredible shortcut linking Shinagawa to Odaiba within few kilometers., Love y’all!
